Pergolas are becoming one of the fastest growing trends in the outdoor living industry. Why? Because many homes are built with a patio that is too small to use in a functional way. The solution is a pergola or cabana. The rustic cedar structures can add an element of design that will make your back patio seem more of an inviting space for you and your family. There are many ways we design pergolas for our clients. Do you like rock accents? We can install stone around pillars, a wing-wall for extra seating and storage, as well as including outdoor kitchens and fireplaces to transform the structure into your very own outdoor living room.

The Process

The key to the ideal pergola is the right design, according to the needs of the client. The first step we take in designing the pergola for our client, is to meet and listen to the functionality our client is looking for. How big is your family? Do you have large groups or small groups you are wanting to entertain? How should your pergola interact with the rest of your yard, and how should it flow according to other areas? Once these questions have been answered, we can get started on your design. During the design and estimating portion, we will offer options such as which size wood beams you would like, and if you would like any stone work. Want an outdoor kitchen? We can include this in the plan, even if it is a future addition. Lastly, we will sit down with the client to go over the different designs and the quotes for the options we have discussed along the way. Once the decision has been made on the pergola desired, we will schedule a start date and coordinate with subcontractors (if needed). Upon completion, we will complete a walk-through with the client and make sure that there are no questions or concerns before we leave the site.

Adding hardscape elements, such as pergolas, can add the time spent enjoying the outdoors during the warm summer months by creating shade from the sun. The summer heat can slow down the time spent outside at sunset, where a pergola will provide shade. Elements such as a fan can be installed to cool down the area to provide the ultimate outdoor environment.

Are you wanting more than just a pergola? There are many ways to bring pergolas to the next level:

  • Lighting- barista lights can add a nice aesthetic as well as function to your pergola at night.
  • Outdoor Kitchen- grilling and preparing food on your patio while friends and family enjoy the patio is a popular feature.
  • Fireplace/Firepit- provides an interactive feature to your patio during the cooler nights during spring/fall.
  • Pave Stone Patio- softens up the patio space by adding another texture.
  • Small Walls- allows the area to feel more like a cozy space, as well as increases seating.
  • Clear Poly Roofing– installed on the top of the pergola, to provide cover for rain and snow.
