Scapes, Inc. began in 1981, when Mike Lindsey, an Oklahoma City firefighter, discovered his passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces. Working part-time in the landscape industry, he recognized an opportunity to bring an elevated level of design, craftsmanship, and service to the Oklahoma City market. What started as a small operation soon became one of the area's premier names in landscape design and installation, with many of the most distinctive homes in Nichols Hills showcasing his work throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

During that time, his commitment to horticultural excellence led to a remarkable discovery—a unique form of bald cypress that would later become Lindsey's Skyward® Bald Cypress, a patented tree variety now planted across the country.

Growing up, Owen Lindsey spent his childhood at the company's private tree nursery, surrounded by rows of evergreens and shade trees. From the age of ten, he tagged along to job sites, helped water newly planted landscapes, and developed a deep appreciation for the artistry behind every project. Some of his fondest memories are from those early days working alongside his father on beautiful estates in Nichols Hills, learning the value of hard work, precision, and pride in craftsmanship.

After earning a finance degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, Owen initially pursued a career in the medical device industry. Yet the family business—and the landscapes that shaped his childhood—called him back. He returned to Scapes, Inc. as Operations Manager, leading daily production and helping modernize systems and processes to meet the needs of a growing company.

In 2022, the business officially transitioned to Owen's ownership. Since then, he has continued the Scapes legacy while expanding its vision—blending timeless craftsmanship with innovative design and full-service project delivery. Today, Owen plays an integral role in overseeing the design direction of each project, ensuring every landscape reflects the company's signature attention to detail and enduring quality.

Now in its fifth decade, Scapes, Inc. stands as a testament to family heritage, integrity, and the belief that a landscape should be as beautiful and lasting as the memories made within it.
